Online Integrative Counselling UK

Integrative counselling online, shaped around you, not a textbook

No two people come to counselling with the same story, so why should they get the same therapy? Integrative counselling draws on several proven approaches and blends them to fit what you need. Sessions happen by video, from wherever you feel comfortable.

What Is Integrative Counselling?

One approach rarely fits everyone

Integrative counselling is a way of working that brings together ideas and techniques from different types of therapy. Rather than sticking rigidly to one method, an integrative counsellor draws on whatever is most likely to help you, at that point in your life.

That might mean the warmth and acceptance of person-centred counselling, the curiosity about your past that comes from psychodynamic therapy, some practical tools from CBT, or mindfulness to help you slow down and notice what's happening inside you.

Underneath it all is a simple belief: you're a whole person, with a body, feelings, thoughts and relationships that all affect each other. Online integrative counselling looks at all of it, not just one piece.

How It Works

Drawing on what works, for you

An integrative counsellor is trained in several approaches and knows how to bring them together with care. Here are some of the strands they might weave in.

Person-centred

A warm, non-judgemental relationship where you're listened to properly. This is often the foundation that everything else is built on.

Psychodynamic

Exploring how early experiences and unconscious patterns might be shaping the way you feel and relate to people today.

Cognitive behavioural

Practical ways to spot unhelpful thoughts and habits, and to test out new ways of responding.

Mindfulness

Learning to notice thoughts, feelings and body sensations without getting swept away by them.

Is It Effective?

Why a tailored approach can make a difference

Research into talking therapy consistently finds that the relationship between you and your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy helps. Integrative counselling puts that relationship first, then adapts the methods to suit you, rather than asking you to fit the method.

Your therapist will talk openly with you about how they're working and why. If something isn't helping, you can say so, and they can change course. That flexibility is one of the main reasons many people choose online integrative counselling.

Tailored to youYour sessions are shaped around your goals, personality and pace.

FAQs

Questions about integrative counselling

Most therapies follow one main model, such as CBT or psychodynamic therapy. Integrative counselling draws on several and blends them to suit you. It isn't a random mix: your therapist is trained to combine them thoughtfully.

Yes. The core of integrative work is the relationship and the conversation, and both translate well to video. Many people find it easier to open up from their own home.

It depends on what you'd like to work on. Some people come for a focused block of sessions, others prefer longer-term support. You'll review progress together, and you're never locked in.

If you'd like to know, absolutely. Good integrative counsellors are open about how they work and happy to explain why they're suggesting something.

Of course. Lots of people just feel stuck, low or not quite themselves. Integrative counselling is well suited to working that out together, without needing a label first.
