Online Child Counselling UK

Online child counselling to help your child feel like themselves again

When your child is struggling, it's hard to know how to help. Maybe they've gone quiet, seem worried all the time, or their behaviour has changed. Online child counselling gives them a safe, friendly space to talk to a qualified therapist, from somewhere they already feel at home.

Children feel big things too

Children and young people can struggle with anxiety, low mood, anger, grief, friendship problems, bullying, changes at home or pressure at school, just like adults. The difference is they often don't have the words to explain what's going on, so it comes out in how they behave.

Online child counselling offers support in a setting your child already knows. For many children, talking from their own bedroom or living room feels far less daunting than sitting in an unfamiliar clinic, and it's easier to fit around school and family life.

Getting help early can make a real difference. It gives your child a chance to understand their feelings and learn ways to cope, before difficulties become more settled.

How We Work With Children

Techniques that suit your child

Children don't always want to sit and talk. Our therapists adapt sessions to your child's age, personality and needs.

Play and creative work

Drawing, storytelling, games and other creative activities help younger children express feelings they can't yet put into words.

CBT-based approaches

Simple, practical tools to help children notice worried or unhelpful thoughts and try out new ways of thinking and responding.

Talking therapy

For older children and teenagers, a space to talk openly with a trusted adult who isn't a parent or teacher can be exactly what they need.

Working with parents

We keep you informed and may suggest ways to support your child at home, while respecting the trust your child builds with their therapist.

How It Works

Helping your child get back on track

A parent or carer always gets in touch with us first. We'll arrange a call to hear your concerns and talk about your child's age and needs, then match them with a therapist experienced in working with children and young people. You'll usually be involved at the start so everyone knows what to expect.

Sessions are private so your child can speak freely, but your therapist will explain how confidentiality works for both of you. If they ever had a concern about your child's safety, they would follow safeguarding procedures and would normally talk to you first. Where family relationships are part of the picture, family therapy may also help.

FAQs

Questions about child counselling

Many children and young people are very comfortable on video, and it can feel less intimidating than a clinic. Every child is different, so get in touch to talk about your child's age and needs and we'll help you decide whether online sessions are the right fit.

Look for someone qualified, registered with a professional body and experienced with children, who explains clearly how they'll involve you and handle confidentiality. Most importantly, your child should feel comfortable with them. Every therapist we work with is qualified, insured and personally interviewed by our founder, Kay.

Your child needs to feel safe to speak openly, so their therapist won't share everything they say. They will keep you updated on general progress, and if there were ever a concern about your child's safety, they would act on it and normally talk to you first.

Younger children may want a parent nearby, especially at first, while older children usually prefer privacy. Your therapist will agree the best set-up with you. Either way, make sure your child has a quiet space where they won't be overheard.

No, you can contact us directly. If your child has physical symptoms such as ongoing stomach aches or sleep problems, it's worth seeing your GP as well.

You'll find our current prices on our fees page. Sessions last 50 minutes.
